Haiti
The Current Suffering Among Children
Children in Haiti are enduring immense hardship that no child should have to face. Gang violence, a lack of law enforcement, recurring natural disasters, and extreme poverty have left many without safety, shelter, or hope. Armed groups abduct children, exploit them through forced labor, and subject many to abuse and neglect. Families are fractured by violence, kidnappings, hunger, and displacement, while children who survive are often left without access to clean water, healthcare, or education. In what has become one of the most unstable and dangerous environments for children, the need to support local efforts to protect and care for them is urgent.
Courageous local efforts:
The Very Last is coming alongside courageous local leaders in Haiti who are risking their lives to care for children in desperate situations. By mobilizing people and resources within their communities, these leaders are working tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable children are protected, provided for, and given the opportunity not only to survive but to thrive.
