Central African Republic
The Current Suffering Among Children
Children in Central African Republic are suffering in ways that are difficult to even imagine. Nearly one in ten die before the age of five, while countless others are caught in the horrors of violence and killings. Armed groups abduct children, force them to become child soldiers, and subject many to sexual violence, slavery, and exploitation. Families are torn apart by killings, kidnappings, and displacement, and even those who survive are left without safety, clean water, or sufficient nutrition. In what has been called one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a child, the need to get behind locals who are trying to help the suffering could not be more urgent.
Courageous local efforts:
The Very Last has come behind courageous local leaders who are risking their lives to care for children suffering throughout the Central African Republic. By mobilizing people and resources within their communities, these leaders are striving to ensure the children are cared for and have the opportunity to not only survive but flourish.
